Josh MacPhee
Josh MacPhee is a designer, artist, and archivist, whose publishing output has inspired and supported fellow artists and activists for close to 3 decades.
He is a founding member of the Justseeds Artists’ Cooperative and Interference Archive, based in Brooklyn, NY. Justseeds and Interference Archive are two of the largest political art, cultural organizing, and social movement production spaces in the U.S. Interference Archive also maintains a popular history of social movement art in its open access archives.
MacPhee is the author and editor of numerous publications, including:
- Signs of Change: Social Movement Cultures 1960s to Now
- Signal: A Journal of International Political Graphics and Culture
- The Encyclopedia of Political Record Labels
- Graphic Liberation: Image Making and Political Movements
He has organized the Celebrate People’s History poster series since 1998 and has been designing book covers for publishers for over a decade.
